Trauma Therapy

Trauma Therapy

Trauma may range from light to extreme.

From disturbances or conflicts, emotional triggers, anxiety, panic attacks to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Trauma Therapy

Trauma is often the cause of many dysfunctions:

Mental health, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, substance abuse.

Sexual Abuse is a toxic trauma that lies in the mind and body.

In my practice over many years once the trauma is released a lot of the symptoms disappear and what is left is more easy to work with using normal counselling techniques.

Current Treatments are:

  • Counselling/psychotherapy
    (Requiring Extensive numbers of sessions)
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy
    (Requiring Extensive numbers of sessions.
  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy
    (Requiring Extensive numbers of sessions)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
    (Twelve session)
  • Stress Inoculation Training (12 weeks)
  • Medications (often for life)

Some facts and current treatments:

  • Trauma is held in the unconscious mind and body. The Limbic system.
  • Most current therapies for trauma, engage the cognitions and conscious mind.
  • Focussing on understanding the trauma by talk, art or play therapies.

Some common therapies:

  • Like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)  are focused on desensitizing and reprocessing.
  • Attempt to change beliefs and alter behaviour.
  • Attempt to manage symptoms by;
  1. Using strategies
  2. Medication
  3. Support groups

Most of the therapies except EMDR engage the conscious mind. These therapies are ignoring the fact that the source of the trauma is buried in the unconscious mind. This generally makes the trauma inaccessible to conscious awareness.

Trauma Informed Counselling does not mean it can help you process your Trauma

Many trauma informed and well-meaning counsellors and mental health workers work with trauma.

They hold the belief that if they encourage a traumatised client to talk about their trauma, helps. Particularly in a safe environment with an empathic counsellor.
In a similar way that sharing a problem with a friend may help. ‘A problem shared is a problem halved.’

Counselling is therapeutic for non-trauma related issues. As it assists clients in understanding and reflecting on what has happened. On feels, thoughts and making more sense of it. In this way they may develop new and healthier perspectives.

This is not the case for current trauma treatment techniques. i.e. a traumatised client does not need to talk about his/her experience to resolve it.

Trauma occurs due to its overwhelming and often threatening nature. Re-visiting it often opens up the trauma and does not resolve it.

New more effective approaches are required

Trauma  therapy approaches are required that accurately access the original trauma safely. Further, they need to process it quickly and without re-traumitisation.

Trauma Therapy

This is not the case for current trauma treatment techniques.

Trauma occurs due to its overwhelming and often threatening nature. Re-visiting it often opens up the trauma and does not resolve it.

Trauma may be divided in two main types:

  1. Those formed in the Biography of life. Due to difficult, upsetting, shocking or life threatening situations. This is stored in the personal unconscious mind
  2. Those that we are born into from our family system. This is stored in the generational unconscious memory. Research through epigenetics is showing how we inherit much more than DNA HERE

We inherit feelings, memories, patterns and much more.

I have been working in this area of trauma for over twenty years. In response to what clients bought, I have sourced and developed ways of working with each type of trauma. Techniques which are:

1 Trauma Informed and

2 Trauma Skilled in fast and effectively helping with trauma recovery

The techniques I use are:

  • Systemic Family Constellations founded by Bert Hellinger
  • Emotional Mind Integration™ founded by me.

I generally use:

  • Systemic Family Constellations for Generational trauma
  • Emotional Mind Integration for Personal trauma

Both methods require anything from 1, 3 or 5 sessions per issue. NOT months or YEARS to resolve.

Trauma Therapy generational

Many people report always having felt the feelings of guilt, shame, fear, anxiety and trauma. On reflection, they may be able to identify such feelings in their parents’ or grandparents’ situations. Others may not know of what happened previously,  But the issues, disturbances, behaviour or trauma persist.

Many of us have come from people who have experienced war, injustice, genocide, famine and family tragedies. These may be passed on in transgenerational trauma.

Trauma Therapy generational is available through:

  • Hypnosis
  • Emotional Mind Integration
  • Family Constellations
  • Rapid Core Shift

In these cases Rapid Core Shift, a combination of Family Constellations and Emotional Mind Integration is used to assist you in releasing the trauma of disturbance and move on into the future in a lighter way with more freedom.

I hold regular Family Constellations workshops where these issues may be worked with in a powerful way or you may take part in private sessions in person or online.
